In this, the first of the Insight series, the Decent Homes Standard is introduced and discussed. It covers the background to the standard and the stock options for Local Authorities: Arms Length Management Organisations, Private Finance Initiative and Stock Transfer.
Insight 2 and Q & A Booklet
The second Insight publication looks specifically at the first two criterion of the Decent Homes Standard: Minimum Standard for Housing and Reasonable State of Repair. Within the Fitness for Habitation component, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System is discussed while the Disrepair criterion looks at the Age and Condition of building elements.
Insight 3 and Q & A Booklet
The third Insight publication looks specifically at the last two criterion of the Decent Homes Standard: Reasonably Modern Facilities and Services and Reasonable Degree of Thermal Comfort. The Modern Facilities component attempts to add value for the tenant while the Thermal Comfort component emphasises the requirement for Efficient Heating and Effective Insulation.
